After having launched an iPad and iPhone app for Invesco US in 2013 and 2014, Invesco had multiple user requests for an Android version as well. The Invesco US mobile team was tasked with creating a new app for Android that sought to fulfill the following goals:
I merged the Invesco Digital Visual Language with Android-specific Material design patterns to take advantage of the inherent Android UI and functional components. The updated UI was still reminiscent of the Invesco US iPhone app but had an updated UI that was also familiar to Android users.
Above: Pricing and Performance data designs for products. The Visual Language applied to the app included side scrolling data tables, increased font sizes and white space to increase readability and make touch navigation easier.
The iPhone app had multiple navigation patterns, with some screens opening as pseudo-modals and others as disjointed screens. As part of this design, I redesigned how the in-app navigation worked in the Android app to remove excess steps and provide a more consistent experience.
I created high-fidelity mocks of each screen and interaction and merged them all into an interactive InVision prototype. I also used an InVision board to store all of the specs and assets for app so that they would be easy to access by the mobile developers.
Above: I created a flow within Sketch to map out the login interactivity for the InVision prototype.
The 1.0 version of the Invesco US Android app launched in December 2017. The app provides access to all Invesco Mutual Funds and ETF pricing and performance data, allows users to add products to a watchlist, and also provides access to selected Insights. Future releases will focus on expanding the product lines available, adding Events and a Dashboard.
